Student life and facilities

Your campus
Classes are held in a historic building that used to be a nunnery. Today it is a modern fitted location, walking distance from the city centre. The building has its own computer facilities (with support staff) and a library with over 20.000 books, 375 magazines and journals, audiovisual items and a microfiche reader. All students get a library card granting them access to all university libraries in Maastricht and the rest of the province. It is also possible to order books and articles from most national, European and International library exchange networks. MACESS module leaders are always prepared to assist students with their study needs.

The campus has its own cafeteria selling drinks, sandwiches, warm food and snacks. The Maastricht University Mensa is also open for MACESS students and is located in the centre of the city.

Studying abroad can be a challenging experience. Students have access to professional and independent counsellors and advisors for the duration of the course. MACESS has taken all reasonable measures necessary to ensure that students with disabilities are able to participate fully in the course and to have a satisfying academic and social experience in Maastricht. Students are advised to contact the course director upon application for advice on specific needs. Childcare is available and the cost is dependent on the income of the parent.

Your place

During the first 6 months, when the classroom-based programme is given in Maastricht, we advise students to take up residence in the city. If you apply before July the first we can guarantee that a room will be available for you when you arrive. All rooms will have high-speed Internet connections. The rooms will be located close to all essential facilities, like supermarkets, bus stops, post offices, hairdressers and pharmacies, etc. Living together with other MACESS students in Maastricht definitely adds to the international experience!
