Fulltime

MACESS offers the possibility to engage the course in fulltime (below) or part-time mode.

  1. Recruitment and intake phase

    • publicity: prospectus, posters etc.
    • pre-selection of students by participating institutes (01/06): language skills, degree (BA or equivalent), interest and motivation, possible subjects for research 
    • final selection by admissions panel (01/07): the admissions panel will consist of the course director, the liaison tutor and the module-convenors. The selection will be on the basis of the results of the preselection and the candidate's curriculum
    • final acceptance and information to the students (15/07)
  2. Introduction phase (01/09 - 10/09) Start 10.00

    • induction programme: the city of Maastricht, the Hogeschool Zuyd, the programme, the facilities, group dynamics
    • introduction to dissertation: possibilities of research subject and research place, determination of interest, motivation and basic skills (knowledge of the subject, language) of the student, the basis for a motivated choice for the dissertation
    • information-market of the participating institutions and staff expertise
    • counselling by the course co-ordinator concerning the dissertation
    • basic language course in English
  3. Core Module-phase and study period (12/09 - 15/12)

    • Introduction to European Institutions and Policy: part 1 (one week)
    • study (one week): visit to Brussels and Strasbourg
    • Comparative Social Policy: part 1 (one week)

    • assessment of three modules: written exams and oral assessment

  6. Research-phase (01/03 - 31/08)

    • comparative field research
    • development of research report: the dissertation
  7. Assessment period 2 (June, one week)

    • submission of the papers of the optional modules
  8. Assessment period 3 (August)

    • submission of the dissertation
  9. End of Academic year (01/09)

  10. Meeting of the Assessment Board (October)

  11. Graduation ceremony in London (December)
