Global Politics, Economy And Society
Oxford Brookes University - School Of Social Sciences & Law And The Business School
The Oxford Brookes Departments of Law, International Relations, Politics & Sociology and the Business School are launching a new joint Doctoral Training Programme (DTP) in Global Politics, Economy and Society. As a strategic part of this initiative, we invite applications for three 3-year PhD studentships. For successful candidates the level of the home/EU fee will be paid by the university and students will receive an annual studentship of 13,300 in 2010/11, increasing by 3% each year. The studentships are open to both home/EU and International students, but International applicants should be aware that they would need to fund the difference between the home/EU and International research degree fees each year for the duration of the award.
The studentships are intended for candidates, who will pursue PhD research that falls within the areas of expertise of the DTP. The DTP will be especially devoted to qualitative and interpretative research within the following areas:
- political and cultural economy in global and comparative perspectives
- corporate governance in the global political economy
- international law in global society
- human resources and work in the global political economy
- the service sector and post-industrial developments in the global political economy
- political economy & society of the developing world
- political economy & society in post-Soviet transition
- recognition, citizenship and identity in global and comparative perspectives
- peace, conflict and security studies
- transnational communication
- global ecology
We are looking to recruit candidates of the highest quality, with the capability of submitting a PhD thesis within 3 years. The successful candidate is expected to have completed, or be in the process of completing, an ESRC 1+3 recognised Masters or equivalent. We will also consider excellent students with another Masters qualification, who are willing to complete supplementary research methods modules in their first year of study.
The closing date for applications is May 14, 2010.
